Leadership in enabling and industrial technologies (LEIT)

Aiming at new and breakthrough technologies, this part of the Horizon 2020 programme will contribute to boosting competitiveness, creating jobs and supporting growth.

The emphasis is on areas of research and innovation with a strong industrial dimension and where mastering new technological opportunities will enable and drive innovation. The objective is to achieve the EU Industrial policy goals, which represents an important component of the EU Strategy for Key Enabling Technologies (KET).

The topics within the LEIT Progamme, which are most relevant to SSPC members, fall under the following headings;

  • Nanosciences, Nanotechnologies, Materials and new Prodcution Technologies (NMP)
  • Biotechnology (BIOTEC)
  • Factories of the Future (FoF)
  • Sustainable Process Industry through Resource and Energy Efficiency public-private partnership

Nanosciences, Nanotechnologies, Materials and new Production Technologies (NMP)

The core objective of the ’Nanosciences, Nanotechnologies, Materials and new Production Technologies (NMP)’ theme is to improve the competitiveness of European industry and generate the knowledge needed to transform it from a resource-intensive to a knowledge-intensive industry. Funding from the NMP research theme will benefit new, high tech industries and higher-value, knowledge-based traditional industries, with a special focus to the appropriate dissemination of research results to SMEs.
